Good morning. Amie here, founder and creative director of Jindo & Friends, part-time lawn excavation artist. Today I'm telling you the origin story of The Mole Hunter — the crewneck that started it all, and the mole that never stood a chance.
It began last spring, in the yard. I was minding my business (sunbathing, obviously) when I heard it: a tiny scraping sound under the grass. Most dogs would nap through it. I am not most dogs. I am a Jindo. Fun fact: Jindos were bred in Korea as hunting dogs, and our prey drive is legendary. We don't chase for sport. We chase because we are excellent and the prey is there.
What followed was three days of intensive surveillance. I marked the tunnel exits. I mapped the territory. I deployed the "sit very still and stare at one spot for forty minutes" technique, which is extremely advanced. My human assistant, Jake, watched from the window and said, "Amie, are you really going to dig up the whole yard?" Buddy, you don't stop a Jindo with questions. Fun fact: Jindos are designated Natural Monument #53 in Korea — a national treasure. National treasures do not abandon the mission.
The design
When Jake saw me leap headfirst into the molehill, he laughed so hard he dropped his coffee. That exact moment — me, upside down, butt in the air, tail straight up like an antenna — became the drawing. That's the origin of The Mole Hunter crewneck: a monument to commitment.
Fun fact: one famous Jindo walked 300 kilometers home across Korea to find her family. That's the level of determination my breed brings to everything, including holes. Also, we are famously cat-like in our cleanliness, so naturally I showered immediately after. Well. I shook off. Same thing.
The mole was never caught. It relocated. I consider it a victory by forfeit.
